Rejoice, Rejoice!
let every tongue rejoice! one heart, one voice; O Church of Christ, rejoice! |
Prayer
Lord, you have always been our host.
When you first came from heaven to the world we call ours,
shepherds and kings were your guests.
When you accepted hospitality in the homes of others,
you turned the tables and became the host,
feeding hearts and souls through your teaching.
When you came to the disciples, newly risen,
you took charge and saw to their needs of mind and body.
We praise you, Jesus, ground of our being,
ground of our believing,
for standing among us in your risen power,
host to the world that is yours – not ours.
Amen.

We have heard the words of the Apostle John who, as an old man, encountered the risen Lord on the island of Patmos; now we hear his recollection of meeting the risen Lord on the shore of Lake Galilee:

Prayers
Risen from the grave,
you fill the world
with the wonder of new life.
Glory be to you, Risen Lord:
You make all things new.
Ascended to the Father’s right hand,
you carry our humanity
to the heart of Godhead.
Glory be to you, Ascended Lord:
You make all things new.
At the Father’s right hand
you ever intercede for us.
Glory be to you, Reigning Lord:
You make all things new.
Present in our world by your Spirit,
you bring resurrection life to us
in the midst of time,
so that eternity might be planted in our hearts.
Glory be to you, Immanent Lord:
You make all things new.
Now bring before God our prayers:
for people, places and situations of concern…
You make all things new
Risen from the grave,
you fill the world
with the wonder of new life.
Glory be to you, Risen Lord:
You make all things new.
Ascended to the Father’s right hand,
you carry our humanity
to the heart of Godhead.
Glory be to you, Ascended Lord:
You make all things new.
At the Father’s right hand
you ever intercede for us.
Glory be to you, Reigning Lord:
You make all things new.
Present in our world by your Spirit,
you bring resurrection life to us
in the midst of time,
so that eternity might be planted in our hearts.
Glory be to you, Immanent Lord:
You make all things new.
Now bring before God our prayers:
for people, places and situations of concern…
You make all things new
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are Yours now and for ever. Amen |
