Meeting together/Memory Cafe
WIRKSWORTH 'THANKS FOR THE MEMORY' CAFE
On the second Monday of every month 2-4pm. Read on...(Macduff)
Many of us have friends, relatives or loved ones who are currently experiencing memory loss or have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia. This can be distressing both to the person experiencing the symptoms of memory loss as well as their loved ones.
In order to address this need, the Wirksworth Rotary Club and Wellspring Church launched the 'Thanks for the Memory' Café at the Wellspring hall on Monday 10th August 2015. Over 40 guests together with their carers and loved ones attended the cafe which had the theme of Sights, Smells and Sounds of Summer. This was followed by a Harvest-themed café in September and other appropriate themes in subsequent months.
Memory Cafe is open from 2pm to 4pm on the second Monday of each month and provides a full programme of activities, including afternoon tea, gathered song sessions, reminiscence events, and round table activities. But, most importantly it will provide an opportunity to meet new friends and to share experiences.
If you would like to get involved with this exciting new venture, or have relatives friends who may enjoy coming along as guests, please contact Roger Cassidy on 01629 820987 cassidy.roger@gmail.com or Barbara Wilson.
