Meeting together/Memory Cafe
Wirksworth ‘Thanks for the Memory Café’
Many of us have friends, relatives or loved ones who are experiencing memory loss or have already been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia. This can be distressing both to the person experiencing the symptoms as well as their loved ones.
In order to address this need, members of both the Wirksworth Rotary Club and Wellspring launched the ‘Thanks for The Memory Café’ in August 2015, and although Wirksworth Rotary Club sadly closed in June 2022, still continue to work together to keep this project thriving!
We meet on the second Monday of each month from 2pm – 4pm offering a themed programme of activities including games, crafts, music and singing, reminiscence events and conversation as well as providing afternoon tea. Most importantly we provide an opportunity to meet with old and new friends to share experiences and laughter in a safe environment.
No special referrals are required and carers are more than welcome to stay and join in if they wish. There is no charge, but any donations are gratefully received.
If you would like to become involved in any way, or have relatives or friends who may enjoy coming along as guests, please contact Pam Fraser on 07940474444 [email protected] or Barbara Wilson on 07504040476 [email protected]
